Yan'an locates on the Loess Plateau in northern Shaanxi Province. The old town nestles against Phoenix Hill (Fenghuangshan), with Precious Pagoda Hill (Baotashan) to its east, Cool Hill (Qingliangshan) to its northeast, and the Yanhe River flowing by. The town was of great strategic importance in ancient wars, and is steeped in revolutionary traditions. It was here, in October 1935, that the Chinese Worker and Peasants?Red Army, after completing the 12,500 kilometers Long March, established a revolutionary base against the Japanese aggression. From 1937 to 1947, Yan'an was the seat of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC). Thousands upon thousands of patriotic Chinese youths came here to join the revolutionary ranks against the Japanese invaders. During those hard years, they lived in caves, ate the millet they themselves grew and won the final victory in the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression. After the liberation of the country in 1949, places of historical significance relating to the revolution were preserved in Yan'an and have been visited by many from both home and abroad.

Itinerary :
Day 1 Arrive in Xi'an (L/D)

Our guide will pick you up at Xian airport and visit the Big Wild Goose Pagoda (the ancient Buddhism temple and museum for the famous monk-Xuan Zang). Then walk on the ancient City Wall of Ming Dynasty and the Bell Tower and Drum Tower Square. Have the dumpling banquet for dinner. Overnight at Diamond International or similar.

Day 2 Xi'an/Yichuan/Yan'an (B/L/D)

After breakfast transferred to Yichuan, on the way visit the mausoleum of the Yellow Emperor (tomb of Huangdi, widely regarded as the ancestor of the Chinese people) and the Xuanyuan Temple. Upon arrival at Yichuan, visit the Hukou Waterfalls of the Yellow River, which is the only Yellow Waterfall on earth.
Then transfer to Yan'an by coach, enjoy the dinner in local restaurant. After dinner you can join the optional activity to watch the performance: Yan'an Defend War. Overnight at Yinhai International or similar.

Day 3 Yan'an/Xi'an (B/L/D)

Visit the cave dwelling and the Revolution Memorial Hall. Transfer to Xi'an after lunch. Overnight at Diamond International or similar.

Day 4 Xi'an (B/L/D)

Have ABF or Buffet for breakfast in your hotel. Today's highlight is the majestic Terracotta Warriors and Horses Museum. Then visit Huaqing Pool of the Tang Dynasty: the ancient remains of the bath pool and Banpo Museum. After dinner you can enjoy the optional activity to watch the Han & Tang Dynasty Show. Overnight at Diamond International or similar.

Day 5 Departure from Xi'an (B)

After breakfast in your hotel, you will be transferred to the airport for your homeward flight.
